Hi, I'm Lucy...
I am a primary school teacher of 20 years, passionate about textiles and nurturing creativity.
I am a qualified NMH mentor to autistic/ADHD undergraduate students.
In addition, I'm a parent to a child with SEND and have experience of supporting children with anxiety, school based trauma and attendance difficulties.

Working from my studio, I offer 1:1 or small group sessions for children and adults. Sessions can be tailored to student's interests and learning needs.
These can incorporate sewing, embroidery, applique, cross stitch, sashiko, colour theory, knitting and using a sewing machine.
Textiles provides opportunities to develop Maths, English and fine motor skills.
Current research highlights the mindful benefits of taking part in creative activities such as stitching.
For some autistic people, the repetitive movements of knitting and sewing can be a calming 'stim'.
I have enhanced DBS and public liability insurance.
Parents/Carers are welcome to stay on site or drop off/pick up.
I am happy to discuss 'reasonable adjustments' to support students' needs.
